Academic Information

The goal of the Northeast Institute for Biblical Studies is to provide excellent instruction in Biblical Studies.  To ensure we our offering the best possible academic outcomes for our students we adhere to these basic academic standards:

Attendance Policy

We require you as a student to attend at least 80% of in-person classes and to notify the instructor when you will not be available to attend in person.  We understand that life is busy and other arrangements for missing classes can be discussed with the instructor and may differ for different courses.  Persons who are auditing a course do not have this attendance requirement.

Academic Policy

Academic Excellence - we expect our students to complete the coursework given to them by their instructor on time and with the highest level of academic rigor possible by that student.  This expectation means that academic success may look different for different students and the instructor of the class will modify and shape the academic expectations for each student along a common trajectory.

Grading Scale

91-100

Assignment completed on time, with all academic expectations met and a high level of personal academic growth displayed will receive a score of 91 to 100.

71-80

Assignment completed, with an average of the academic expectations met and showing some effort towards a high level of personal academic growth will receive a score of 71 to 80.  Students who score in this range may be asked to redo their work and resubmit it so that they can work towards a high level of personal academic growth.

81-90

Assignment completed on time, with most academic expectations met and showing a growth towards a high level of personal academic growth displayed will receive a score of 81 to 90.

70 and Below

Assignment not completed or not completed on time, not meeting basic academic expectations and not showing any effort towards personal academic excellence will score in the 70 and below scale.

Work will need to be redone and resubmitted so that we can help the student reach a level of academic growth that will ensure they are moving towards an eventual successful outcome.  Students who consistently score in this range will be asked to switch to auditing the course or may be asked to drop the course altogether with no refund.

These grading scales reflect assignments such as written responses, research papers or essays and presentations or cap stone projects. Traditional quizzes or tests are graded strictly numerical.
